Renowned photographer Ami Vitale captures the female elephant Shaba and a unique group of women in northern Kenya. Shaba grew up in protected captivation as an orphan baby with the women from the sanctuary – the first Indigenous female elephant caretakers in all of Africa! A touching testimony of a project that is positively changing the image of elephants as well as that of women in the region.
