DER ALBTRAUM DES SCHAMANEN (THE SHAMANS‘ NIGHTMARE)

Ecuador, Malaysia, Namibia and Mongolia. The Austrian Natalie Halla travels to four extreme corners of this world to visit four nomadic peoples and their shamans. On the one hand, it is about philosophies of life, the relationship to nature and worries and dreams for the future. Yet on the other, it is a journey into the depths of the shamanic world. The film is also a contemporary testimony of the nomadic peoples’ struggle for survival, as their physical and cultural future is so massively threatened by climate change and their habitat is destroyed more and more. With “THE SHAMANS‘ NIGHTMARE”, director Halla fulfils her promise to bring the nomad’s concerns about the future to the Western world.
